Multi-disciplinary driven operation in Hercules lead to arrests

"And the only way we can do that is by working with the community because we simply cannot fight crime on our own."

A multi-disciplinary SAPS-driven operation was held in the Hercules area on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 May.

Several senior police officers from Gauteng with police officers from the Hercules police station as well as members from the Hercules CPF joined forces in this operation.

Various successful arrests were made.

Teams seized illegal liquor from a shebeen in the area and also clamped down on an illegal dagga plantation in one of the informal settlements in the area.

Visible policing commander of Hercules, Captain Riaan Groenewald, thanked the CPF members for their help.

“This operation was duly commended by senior police officers attending the operation,” he said.

Hercules station commander Colonel Christine Peta Tsoaedi also expressed gratitude towards the Hercules CPF.

“As I have said before, I want a crime-free Hercules.

“And the only way we can do that is by working with the community because we simply cannot fight crime on our own.

“This operation is one of many we plan to implement on a regular basis to get the community, police officers and the CPF involved to combat crime,” she said.

Chairperson of Hercules CPF sector 2, Catrien Schoerie, urged all community members who have not enrolled as sector members yet, to do so.

Hercules CPF operation coordinator Andre Visser said that if everyone stands together, crime can be beaten.

“The more the community members enrol themselves as active sector members the stronger this area’s residents become in our fight against crime in our area,” he said.

Community members interested to sign up as active Hercules CPF members can contact Jan Prinsloo on 082-365-8744.
