In the previous week the figure stood at 2 156 active cases.

The Tshwane metro has seen a significant increase in positive Covid-19 cases in the past week.
Mayor Randall Williams said cases have now exceeded 3 000.
“Our most recent Covid-19 report indicates that active cases have now jumped to 3 072,” he said.
“This is yet again another noticeably high week-on-week increase in active cases.”
In the previous week the figure stood at 2 156 active cases.
Williams said new confirmed cases per day have also been consistently increasing.
“The continued increase in active Covid-19 cases is concerning and requires increased vigilance from all residents.
“It’s also important that everyone who is eligible to register for vaccination in this current phase of the roll-out, to please do so.”
On Monday, Williams along with MMC Mare-Lise Fourie and MMC Sylvester Phokoje, got his jab at the Atteridgeville community hall.
Williams reassured residents that the vaccines were safe and emphasised the importance of registering.
“The staff at our vaccination sites are very professional and informative,” he said.
“I am confident that they will treat everyone with care and dignity.”
