Keegan still missing for almost a year
Mother pleads with community for help in finding Keegan Paul du Plooy, last seen at court in Pretoria North on 23 July 2020.

A Pretoria man, Keegan Paul du Plooy, who has been missing for almost a year, would be 27 this year.
He went missing in the north of Pretoria on 23 July 2020.
His mother Lynda du Plooy said it has been well over a year, since she had last seen him.
“The last time I’ve seen him, before he was arrested for shoplifting, was on 29 February last year,” said Lynda.
On the day of his disappearance, Keegan presumably left court to head back to his home in Kempton Park.
Lynda said he never arrived home and his wallet, phone and identification documents were still with the police.
“I don’t understand why he never came home. It’s not like him to stay away from his family. He was very close to us and very protective of me.”
Lynda said Keegan was bipolar and did not have his medication with him at the time of his disappearance.
“It is possible that he doesn’t know who he is or where he is and so I beg of the communities in Pretoria and Kempton Park to please keep a look out for him.”
The SA Community Crime Watch (SACCW) group also got involved in the search for Keegan.
“There were some people who claimed to have seen him, but so far there’s been no positive findings,” said Mike Venter the COO of SACCW.
“After contacting the investigating officer for permission to assist, we drafted a missing person flyer which we distributed to our social media networks. Within a short timeframe calls were received from the community, firstly stating he had been spotted in the Pretoria North area.
“In the weeks that followed various calls started coming in from the Edenvale area with possible sightings. Our field team this time consisting of myself, Donna Durand Canton from our missing unit as well as constables Flamantakis and Langley from SAPS Edenvale (who rendered their off time to assist) conducted an in-depth search, interviewing homeless people in the area.”
Venter said the Edenvale soup kitchen was also visited where staff reported seeing Keegan coming in daily for a meal.
“Unfortunately, he never returned. Many return trips have been made in our search, sadly to no avail,” said Venter.
“It is our belief that Keegan could be in the Bedfordview, Edenvale or Kempton Park area. Recent reports by friends of his have stated sightings, however, we have had no physical confirmation.”
Keegan has brown hair and blue/green eyes and is of a slim build, 1,7m tall and weighs 56kg.
He has distinctive scars on his throat and ankle, as well as tattoos on both his arms and chest.
Anyone who knows about Keegan’s whereabouts may contact the Pretoria North police station on 012-353-5666 and investigating officer Warrant Officer Momberg on 083-419-9766, or Pascoe Investigations on 076-649-7683.
