“He was blocked by a Chevrolet marked as Nkangala taxi association. Its occupants demanded his keys and drove back to Bronkhorstspruit, leaving him behind,” Ramovha said.

“They drove with the pedestrian, dropping him off he where he was picked up.

“They then proceeded to the Bronkhorstspruit taxi rank where they kept the vehicle and demanded R2 500 to release the vehicle.”

Ramovha said the motorist came to Bronkhorstspruit police station to report the matter.

Gauteng traffic personnel as well as the POPS unit operating in the area went and collect the vehicle where they arrested the three.

They are expected to appear in the Bronkhorstspruit magistrate’s court on charges of carjacking, extortion and intimidation.
