Search for Beagle continues into winter
“Please do not stop looking for Luke, he is out there.”
Cold weather has not deterred a Pretoria North family from searching for their beloved pet that has been missing since December last year.
Almost six months after Luke the Beagle disappeared, Theresa Park resident Soné Louw is as determined as ever to find him.
Louw and friends post regular updates on their search for Luke on social media, with the hope that someone in or even outside Pretoria might have seen him.
“Please do not stop looking for Luke, he is out there,” Louw pleaded, saying she would never give up hope on finding her Beagle.
Luke went missing from his home in Ystervark Street on 16 December last year.
“We were on holiday and my gardener left the gate open, which is how Luke got out of the yard. He was a research dog, so I suspect he has some mild brain damage.
“I wonder if that is the reason why he can’t find his way back home,” Louw told Rekord previously.
A reward of R10 000 has been offered for the safe return of the Beagle and a Facebook page: Bring Luke Home now had more than 2 200 followers.
Search teams with sniffer dogs and even air drones have been used in the continued search.
Posters of Luke were put up at busy intersections throughout the north and other areas in Pretoria.
Louw encouraged people to take photos of any Beagle they might come across in the street.
“Please do not think if you see a Beagle it can’t be Luke, just because he went missing in Pretoria North. He can be anywhere.”
Louw said sharing photos of lost dogs can also help other people locate their missing pets.
Previously, Rekord reported on another lost dog that was found during the search for Luke.
Louw said: “Please, if he is spotted: take a picture, send a location, and stay with him. If you can’t send a picture, please phone or send a ‘please call me’ to 067-409-2315.”
