Woman, two children killed in early morning Centurion crash

Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the medics, the boy also succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

Three people, including two children, were killed when a bus and a light motor vehicle collided on the R511 in Centurion on Monday.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics and other emergency services arrived on the scene around 06:50.

“We found the bus in the middle of the road while the motor vehicle was in the nearby veld,” he said.

“A woman and a boy believed to be eight-years-old were found lying outside the car. Another boy, believed to be six, a six-month-old baby and two women were found inside the vehicle,” Meiring said.

Meiring said medics assessed the patients and found that the woman and child lying outside the vehicle had already succumbed to their injuries.

“Nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead on the scene,” Meiring said.

“The child (6) inside the motor vehicle was in a critical condition and the two women sustained moderate injuries. Fortunately, the baby was unharmed,” he said.

“The patients received treatment on the scene and we provided the child with advanced life support interventions.

“Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the medics, the boy also succumbed to his injuries on the scene,” Meiring said.

“Once treated the two women were taken to a nearby hospital for further care.”

He said no one from the bus sustained any injuries and that local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
