‘Adhere to level 2’ as Tshwane hits 4k mark in Covid-19 cases
“Our most recent Covid-19 report indicates that active cases have now jumped to 4444.”
Tshwane mayor Randall Williams has called on residents to adhere to the newly adjusted Covid-19 regulations as the city exceeded the 4 000 mark in active Covid-19 cases.
“Our most recent Covid-19 report indicates that active cases have now jumped to 4 444.”
He said this was a concerning week-on-week increase in active cases in the Tshwane metro and required all residents and businesses to be more vigilant.
Williams said in the previous week the figure for active cases stood at 3 072.
“New confirmed daily cases are also increasing, ranging between 500 and 600 cases per day.”
Recorded Covid-19 cases since last week, are as follows:
– Thursday, 27 May: 617 new cases
– Friday, 28 May: 567 new cases
– Saturday, 29 May: 592 new cases
– Sunday, 30 May: 653 new cases
– Monday, 31 May: 552 new cases
Williams said it was worth noting the country had moved back to adjusted level 2, as Covid-19 cases had rapidly been rising signalling the third wave of the pandemic.
He said the metro would continue with its vaccination programmes.
“I am pleased to note that we have increased our initial vaccination sites from five to the present 14 sites.”
He encouraged those who were eligible to register for vaccination in this current phase of the roll-out, to do so.
