Police are on the hunt for two suspects on the run who were involved in a shooting incident, which left one suspect dead.

The incident occurred last week Wednesday after 20:00 in Hennops Vallei.

Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said reports suggested that three armed suspects entered the premises and confronted the owner.

“The resident was shot in the lower body and he retaliated, fatally wounding one suspect. Two of the suspect’s accomplices fled on foot.”

Moloto said the victim was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

He said police confiscated an unlicenced firearm. A manhunt had since been launched for the remaining suspects.

“A case of murder and attempted murder was opened at Erasmia SAPS for further police investigation,” he said.

According to reports on social media, the owner (76) and his wife (74) had just sat down at the table to eat when three armed attackers broke down the door and stormed into their home.

The attackers opened fire on the couple and the owner was shot in the leg causing extensive damage, according to reports.

“One attacker was shot dead and a blood trail left by the fleeing attackers indicated that at least one other was wounded.”
