Unitas hospital thanks community for prayers, support
It is a dedicated support line to keep next-of-kin informed on the status of their loved ones who have been hospitalised with COVID-19. It facilitates direct communication between patients and their families where possible.
Netcare Unitas hospital management, staff and specialists, have expressed their appreciation to the community for their ongoing support.
“We would like to thank you for trusting Netcare Unitas hospital with your healthcare needs over the years, especially the past year-and-a-half,” said Eugene Ferreira, general manager of Netcare Unitas hospital.
“We have been extremely touched by the outpouring of support from residents and businesses in the last year, their messages of appreciation and encouragement; all the prayers, kindness and gifts carried us and energised us during challenging times.”
Solidarity, in co-operation with Helping Hand, launched its white ribbon initiative earlier this year, and among other hospitals, also visited Unitas hospital.
Head of Solidarity medical sector Peirru Marx said their white ribbon initiative was to encourage members from hospitals during the Covid pandemic.
“Members of the community were invited to write messages of encouragement and support. We wanted to create awareness among the community and thanked staff members for their hard work under difficult circumstances,” Marx said.
Dare To Love’s founder and spokesperson Daryl Hardy said the Christian movement prayed “at every public, private, and provincial hospital in the province, including at Unitas Hospital earlier this year”.
“Staff members at hospitals need to be prayed for and encouraged, they work hard. Imagine working 12-hour shifts being on your feet during extremely challenging times,” he said.
“We meet again tonight at 18:00 at Unitas hospital, where there will be live praise and worship from its rooftop,” said Hardy.
“And tomorrow at 12:00 we will visit Edenvale Hospital.”
Ferreira said the hospital remained dedicated to health and urged members of the community to take good care of their health.
“Particularly those who have chronic health conditions,” he said.
