Rietgat police nab 28 suspects over the weekend

Rietgat police arrested 28 suspects for the commission of various crimes at the weekend.
Police spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleka said these efforts paid dividends after the detectives, members of visible policing as well as the community shared valuable information in arresting suspects.
“Crimes included but were not limited to malicious damage to property, grievous bodily harm, possession of drugs, common assault (domestic violence related), burglary at residential premises, business burglary, intimidation, possession of stolen motor vehicle, rape and armed robbery.
Maluleka said among the arrested suspects, one suspect was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm in Block P (Jukulyn).
The station commander Colonel Stephina Nkosi said: “Your work is commendable and I really appreciate the positive results. I am also happy for ensuring that illegal firearms are taken off of our streets.
“I would like to thank all the stakeholders involved in making sure that we live in a crime-free community,” said Nkosi.
Maluleka said all the arrested suspects were expected to appear in the Soshanguve magistrate’s court soon.
