Brinant security bids farewell to tactical response officer

Juan-Pierre Pieterse (25) who died in a tragic bike accident two weeks ago will be remembered for his jokes and supportive personality.

A 25-year-old tactical response officer who died in a motorbike accident will be remembered as a dedicated and supportive person by his colleagues at Brinant security.

Juan-Pierre Pieterse was on his way to work on June 4 when he was involved in the accident on Delphi Street in Garsfontein.

JP, as he is affectionately known, was described by his colleagues as a person who always made jokes and tried to make the people around him happy.

“He was always there when someone needed a shoulder to cry on or talk to,” said armed response manager Adriaan de Klerk.

“He was really dedicated to his work and worked well with his colleagues. He loved children and although he never had the chance to have his own children he was a father and uncle to lots of kids.”

De Klerk said news of his death shocked many at the security company, who were struggling with the loss as JP has become a friend and brother to some.

Brinant security often assists in securing accident scenes.

On the day of JP’s accident, a response officer had gone to the scene, only to discover that one of their own had been involved.

The 25-year-old worked at Brinant for two-and-a-half years where he made many memories with colleagues

“He was always willing to go the extra mile. The community loved him; he always made sure everyone at ease,” De Klerk said.

“There is not one or two things that one can point out. As his manager, when he played he gave 150% and when he worked he gave 150%.

“Our most known last awesome experience with him was when the team arrested one of the most wanted house robbery crews in the Pretoria east area.”

“Ou JP, we will miss you old bull. All your jokes at the MBT. Thank you for the awesome person that you were. Fly high pal.”- JJ Scheepers.

JP lived in Wingate Park and will be buried on June 24.

“To all his friend and family, our hearts are heavy with sympathy. We are sharing in your sorrow with love and friendship,” De Klerk said.
