383 nabbed over the weekend during police operations
When police ordered the suspects to stop, a shootout ensued.

Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhawashu, together with senior members of law enforcement, led an operation over the weekend that resulted in the arrest of 383 suspects.
They were charged on various criminal offences.
There was a high level of police visibility in various parts of Tshwane during the operations. Police also reported a high level of compliance on the disaster management act and residence adherence to the curfew.
“In Tshwane North corridor, four people were arrested for contravention of the disaster management act and nine were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property,” said Mamelodi East police station spokesperson Constable Lethabo Mashiloane.
The operations were held in partnership with the Gauteng traffic police, Department of Community Safety, Department of Home Affairs, the SANDF, and the Tshwane metro police.
During operations held on Thursday, the Garsfontein crime prevention unit reported the arrest of three men on charges of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
“Officers received information about the suspects, which they followed up on. They spotted the vehicles that matched the description given to them. When police ordered the suspects to stop, a shootout ensued.
“One suspect sustained injuries while police recovered two unlicensed firearms and ammunition,” said Mashiloane.
In a separate incident, the Tshwane crime prevention unit, while on their daily patrol, received information about a suspected stolen vehicle driving around in Eersterust.
“The officers quickly went to Eersterust to search for the vehicle. While patrolling around the area, they spotted a red microbus that was parked by the side of the road.
“They realised that the vehicle had been abandoned and later discovered that it was actually a stolen vehicle,” he said.
All the individuals arrested during the operations were expected to appear in different magistrate’s courts throughout Pretoria.
