Rietgat police arrested four business robbery suspects this week in block X extension.
The suspects were arrested through a partnership between police and a private security company, where a shootout ensued during the robbery on Wednesday evening, according to Captain Stephen Maluleka.
“All four suspects, driving a charcoal Ford Fiesta, sustained injuries during the incident,” said Maluleka
No member of the security or the police were injured during the incident. The suspects are currently under police guard in the hospital.
Rietgat station commander Colonel Stephina Nkosi lauded both the police and the private security company for their teamwork in the fight against crime in the area.
“The strong partnership between the SAPS and the private security companies is yielding positive results.”
Nkosi also extended a message to the community to continue working with the police station by reporting crime through tip-offs.
Maluleka said anyone who witnesses any criminal activity in their surroundings or neighbourhood should contact the police on Crime Stop number 0860 10111 or My SAPS App Rietgat SAPS on 012 432 7806.
