Hercules police concerned about increase in gate motor thefts

"Hercules police have increased their patrol vehicles and visibility during the night to prevent crimes within our policing precinct."

Hercules police say they are worried about a recent spike in the theft of gate motors and water metres in the area.

“Most of the cases were reported in the Mountain View area,” said police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango.

“On Saturday, we experienced a sharp rise in the theft of gate motors and water metres. No arrests were made at this stage.”

Msimango said the station believed the suspects may be residents within the area or familiar with the area.

“We have increased their patrol vehicles and visibility during the night to prevent crimes within our policing precinct.

“We, therefore, request our community to report any suspicious crimes and potential criminals to place them where they belong. Together we can make Hercules a safe place and a no-crime area.”
