Murder investigation after man’s death

Friends and family of Jaco Geldenhuys (32) are demanding justice for his untimely death last week.

Geldenhuys, a Capital Park resident, was believed to have been murdered after his body was found near Rayton, outside Pretoria.

Cullinan police spokesperson Constable Connie Moganedi confirmed that a case of murder was being investigated.

“The murder investigation was launched after his body was found in the Rayton area,” said Moganedi.

“Investigations are ongoing.”

Geldenhuys’ friend and work colleague, Dean Bester, said Geldenhuys had gone to Cullinan last Wednesday.

“We believe Jaco was willfully led out by his murderer under false pretences,” said Bester.

“A man called Jaco to ask him to come out and work on his Alfa.”

Bester said Geldenhuys had a passion for cars and drove a red Alfa Romeo.

“It seemed like a new hobby of his to work on cars.”

Bester said he did not suspect anything was wrong when Geldenhuys didn’t come to work the following day.

“Only when a friend showed up to ask where he is and shared her suspicion that something was wrong, did we start looking for him.”

Geldenhuys was not found at the location he said he was going to.

Instead his car was found in Montana, near the China mall, but there was no sign of Geldenhuys.

On Friday, Missing in SA and other organisations dealing in the search for missing people, announced that Geldenhuys’ body was found.

“Jaco’s parents passed away years ago and it was just him and his two brothers left,” said Bester sadly.

Geldenhuys’ brother Deon stayed with Bester in Pretoria and his other brother Neil lived in the Eastern Cape.
