Police officers and volunteers clean Mams station
The clean-up campaign was a success as even the station police officers joined in the clean-up.
To help ensure the police work in a clean and healthy environment and to celebrate Mandela Day, various organisations and CPF helped to clean the Mamelodi East police station.
The Mamelodi CPF together with Thandanani Drop Inn Centre, Tshwane metro, Sanco and the Gauteng Rural Development took part in the initiative.
Eddie Mnguni, of the Mamelodi CPF said the clean-up campaign was in celebration of Mandela Day as the late Nelson Mandela was always giving a helping hand volunteering wherever he could.
The police station clean-up was an annual event held around Mandela month.
He said the clean-up campaign was a success as even the station police officers joined in the clean-up.

Tshwane metro donated plastic bags, litter pickers, Gauteng rural development donated work suits. Thandanani Drop Inn centre came with grass-cutting machines and cut off all the overgrown grass inside and outside the station.
Mnguni said their aim was for the police officers to work in a dignified space, not in a filthy station that is unhygienic.
“We cleaned the offices and trimmed the overgrown grass at the police station as well as cleaned an illegal dumping site behind the station,” said Mnguni.
“Police officers risk their lives every day for us and we felt we should do something for them in return to show that we appreciate their work of combating crime,” said Mnguni.
“Keeping such institutions in shape should not be left to government officials alone,” he added.
Mnguni pleaded with community members to start doing voluntary jobs within their different communities especially at government institutions that gives services to them.
