#NotInMyname donates to orphanage
"As we commemorate Nelson Mandela Day, let us hear the cries of those that have lost, and more especially, the cries of those that have never had anything at all."
#NotInMyName donated food parcels, clothes, and sanitary items to the Indaba Zosindiso orphanage in Elandspoort on Sunday.
The donations were made to the orphanage as part of their Mandela Day contributions.
#NotInMyName secretary-general Themba Masango said they chose to donate to the orphanage because they were on their donations list for this year.

“We have over 50 orphanages that we are going to donate to for the year and this was number 34. We donated food, pads for the young girls, toiletries and clothes.
“We are trying to make sure our people are fed during this time of Covid and be kept away from things like looting, crime and getting arrested.

“Today is not about looking for people to blame for we are all guilty. Today is not about your race, for we are all involved. It is not about your political views, because the politicians have failed all of us.
“As we commemorate Mandela Day, let us hear the cries of those that have lost, and more especially, the cries of those that have never had anything at all.”
Masango said there are more South Africans that choose to rebuild than those that choose who continue to destroy.
He also called upon residents to resist looting and continue to protect local businesses.
“Today is about South Africans. It is about our children and how they see us act to shape their future. We want to call upon all people, including our members and supporters to protect our businesses and malls against looting in their areas.
“Today we stand as neighbours and South African citizens and get to work. We show our children that courage can rise from the ashes.
“We call on all forward-thinking South Africans to join us as we embark on cleaning our malls, spazas and businesses to get back on their feet.

“We want to call on all our members and supporters to continue to protect our businesses and malls.”
Founder of the orphanage Gladness Cingo said she would like to thank #NotInMyName for the donations that they made to them.

“We are very happy about the donations they made, it was so beautiful. It will help us a lot. We are living in difficult times of Covid-19 and we are struggling to get donors because of the pandemic.
“The children were also very happy and they even gave a speech to show their appreciation. They also had performances to show their gratitude.”
