Metro finalising repairs at Rosslyn substation
“I’m pleased to report that work has continued throughout last night according to plan and many of the remaining areas have had their power restored.”
The final repairs to Rosslyn sub-station were being made after a fire caused damage to the infrastructure on Monday this week.
Several areas in Akasia, Pretoria North and Soshanguve were without power due to the damage at the sub-station.
The cause of the fire was still being investigated.

Utility services and regional operations co-ordinator MMC Phillip Nel said he was happy to report that most areas affected by the power shutdown, had been restored.
“I’m pleased to report that work has continued through last night, according to plan, and many of the remaining areas have had their power restored,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
“Within the substation the team needed to reroute one of the cables, which is dangerous to do at night when it is surrounded by live power cables. That rerouting was continued this morning.

“Outside the substation there was one challenge, which is on track to be rectified by around midday. If all goes well, all areas should be energised when those repairs are completed.”
Nel said he would no longer be reporting on progress made from the site.
“Further communication will come to the community via the ward councillors for the affected area as power is restored. I would like to thank the residents and businesses affected by this outage for their patience and understanding.
“I would also like to thank the Tshwane teams who have worked through these cold winter nights to restore the power as swiftly as possible.”
