More suspects arrested for possession of unlicenced firearms
The Acting Tshwane District Commissioner Brigadier Abbey Mbangwa applauded the officers for their swift response this week.
Hercules police followed up on information which led to the recovery of an unlicenced firearm and the arrest of three people in the west on Wednesday afternoon.
Local police swiftly responded to stop a suspicious BMW X5 which was parked on the corner of Charl Avenue and Pretoria Road.
“On arrival, the occupants (two women and a man) were commanded to get out of the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered one unlicenced firearm (9mm pistol) and six live rounds of ammunition,” said police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe.
She said the trio was charged for possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition.
Meanwhile in Pretoria Moot, three people were arrested on the N1 just after Stormvoël Road for possession of stolen property and an unlicenced firearm.
A Ford Ranger they were travelling in was seized after it was established that it was hijacked, Selepe said.
In the north of Pretoria, a police compliance team recovered a grey Polo in Soshanguve that was reported stolen in Wonderboompoort.
Acting Tshwane District Commissioner Brigadier Abbey Mbangwa said since the start of this week three firearms were recovered; one in Villieria and one in the north, and the above mentioned one in the west.
He applauded the officers for swiftly following up on information and ensuring a recovery and the arrest of the suspects.
