Tshwane metro adds five more vaccination sites

“The additional vaccination sites are a significant milestone in the city’s fight against the dreadful pandemic."

Five more vaccination sites have been added to those already operational, the Tshwane metro announced on Monday.

“The additional sites are a significant milestone in the city’s fight against the dreadful pandemic,” metro spokesperson Selby Bokaba said.

The latest addition of vaccination sites brings the number of sites operational in the metro to 50.

Bokaba said the increased number of sites was aimed at the metro ramping up its roll-out campaign to ensure more people were vaccinated.

“Four of the sites, which are located in regions 1, 3, 5 and 6, are operational,” he said.

The fifth site, Lukas van den Bergh community centre – also commonly referred to as the Danville community hall – was only expected to be operational from next Monday, September 20.

“These sites will operate on weekdays from 08:30 to 15:00,” Bokaba said.

He called on eligible residents to use the weekend vaccination programme to their advantage as it was added to accommodate those who could not vaccinate during the week due to work or other commitments.

Sites are:

– Mabopane indoor centre

– Suurman clinic (hall)

– Saulsville arena

– Olivenhoutbosch community hall

– Mamelodi West community hall

– Stanza Bopape community centre

– Bronkhorstspruit sports centre

– Laudium community healthcare centre

These sites were operational between 08:00 and 15:00 on both Saturday and Sunday.

“Alternatively, people can also visit any of the city’s vaccination sites enrolled by the Department of Health. No person will be turned away at any of the approved public vaccination sites simply because he or she is unregistered,” Bokaba said.
