"At this stage, we can’t confirm who opened fire but it is claimed that one of the security officers was hit with a spade during the confrontation."

Two people were seriously injured following a shootout outside Menlyn Maine on Monday evening. According to Brooklyn police, there was a scuffle between a group of people and a security company before the shootout ensued. The reason for the scuffle, however, remains unknown. The incident occurred at about 18:20 at the corner of Frikkie De Beer and Corobay Street in Menlyn, according to Brooklyn police spokesperson Sergeant Webster Scheepers. “Two people were both shot in the upper leg and transported to the hospital. At this stage, we can’t confirm who opened fire but it is claimed that one of the security officers was hit with a spade during the confrontation,” he said.
