Metro reopens resorts, nature reserves amid adjusted Covid-19 regulations

While the local resorts and natures were once again open for visitors, numbers would remain restricted in accordance to regulations.

Resorts and nature reserves in the Tshwane metro would again be open for visitors from Monday to Sunday under recently adjusted Covid-19 regulations, the metro announced on Wednesday.

“All picnic sites, swimming pools, bird hides and trails will be open to the public, but visitor numbers will remain restricted according to adjusted regulations,” said Tshwane environment and agriculture management MMC Dana Wannenburg.

“This will include maintaining physical distancing, hand sanitising and wearing masks at all times.”

Some Covid-19 regulations were adjusted during president Cyril Ramaphosa’s address to the nation on Sunday.

Wannenburg further said that lapa hire at the resorts and nature reserves would remain restricted to 50 of their capacity while overnight accommodation and camping sites would also be restricted in line with adjusted level 2 regulations.

“Visitors are reminded that no alcohol will be allowed at any resorts and reserves and mandatory protocols must be complied with at all times,” he said.

Visitors to the Rietvlei nature reserve were also reminded that only 100 cars per day would be allowed on a first-come, first-served basis and that they must always wear masks.
