Sinoville elderly’s vehicle quickly recovered, one arrested

"We were really surprised when the car was found within 15 minutes."

A 72-year-old woman was relieved after her vehicle, stolen in the north of Pretoria, was found within minutes.

On Monday, the swift cooperation of Sinoville police and the community policing forum paid off when they could track down the stolen vehicle and catch the suspected car thief.

The elderly woman’s Toyota disappeared outside a hair salon in Sinoville.

“Fortunately, we quickly found out the car was gone and immediately called the CPF,” said hair salon owner Theresa van Doorn.

Sinoville police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said a tracking device in the car was activated and, together with CPF, police caught up with the vehicle near Soshanguve.

“A suspect was arrested for the theft of a vehicle and being in possession of stolen goods,” Van Dyk confirmed.

Van Doorn said: “We were really surprised when the car was found within 15 minutes.

“When a car is stolen, one expects not to see it again. Many thanks to our CPF and Sinoville police, they did really well.”
