Moot resident greatest wish is to make a difference in her community

"Each one of us has more influence than we realise. Each one of us can impact people in many ways. We just need to get out there and do that."

Moot resident Angie Nel’s greatest wish is to encourage the community to stand together, for “as together we can continue to grow and better our community”.

This former Mrs Johannesburg first princess got involved in various community projects since 2015.

“We’re all in this together. Each one of us has more influence than we realise. Each one of us can impact people in many ways. We just need to get out there and do that,” she said.

As a Pretoria-Tshwane finalist for 2022, it has given her the opportunity and the will to keep making a difference in the community.

Mrs Pretoria-Tshwane forms part of the RoleModels Foundation.

“It provides me the opportunity to use the platform to engage with the community and to create awareness for the families, children, as well as the less-privileged families we have in our communities,” she said.

Some of the projects she is planning to take on before the end of the year, are Power Towers Food Drive, 9 teams Towers across 9 provinces and Starfish babies.

“Last year we had an incredible total of 22 tons that allowed us to feed over 1 000 families.

“This year, our goal is to double the total by 44 tons,” she said.

RoleModels Foundation is a place of safety. They are a foundation that helps old-age homes, campsites, informal sites and feeding people of the streets.

“Many families have lost their jobs during Covid-19. They now need clothes, food and a home. So we can make a difference by getting funds for all of the above,” Nel said.

In addition to the projects above, Nel is involved in other projects on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

“We need a lot of help and assistance from the community. I am involved at Imfundo Educare, Asanté-Neo-Life Project and Tamakhulu Project of Rolemodels Foundation for Senior Citizens.

“The Imfundo Educare, is a project aimed at intervening in destitute communities, to initiate and support crèches, Educare and homework centres. A child who starts school without any educational foundation starts life off at a disadvantage,” she said.

She also feels strongly about the Asanté-Neo-Life project to protect mothers and children from abuse.

“I have a passion for what I do and I am proud of what I have achieved so far.

“I want to continue to make a difference in the community and I want to keep on touching lives,” she said.
