Tshwane Covid-19 active cases drop below 1 200
“New confirmed daily cases are also steadily decreasing as they remain below the 200 mark.”

The Tshwane metro has recorded another week-on-week drop in the number of active Covid-19 cases.
The most recent numbers show that active cases in Tshwane have dropped to 1 151 as of Sunday, September 19.
“In the previous week, the number of active cases stood at 1 309,” said Mayor Randall Williams.
“So far Tshwane has administered 718 921 vaccinations, of these 516 718 have been fully vaccinated, either through the Johnson & Johnson single dose or two doses of Pfizer.
“New confirmed daily cases are also steadily decreasing as they remain below the 200 mark.”
The number of cases for the last week is as follows:
– Wednesday, 15 September: 165 new cases
– Thursday, 16 September: 144 new cases
– Friday, 17 September: 134 new cases
– Saturday, 18 September: 135 new cases
– Sunday, 19 September: 94 new cases
Williams said it was encouraging to see the weekly trend of dropping Covid-19 cases in the city.
He, however, cautioned residents to remain vigilant and continue adhering to safety protocols, such as wearing masks and sanitising regularly.
“I also want to encourage all qualifying residents to vaccinate. The metro has just recently increased its public vaccination sites to 50 and they are spread across all seven regions of Tshwane to enable easy access to all our residents,” he said.
“Once vaccinated, please store your vaccine card safely as you will need to bring it along for your follow-up vaccination.”
