Eskort opens its first franchise butchery in Soweto and a new butchery in Gezina

"We are committed to continuing our local investment, creating business opportunities and giving our customers more access to their favourite products."

Proudly South African brand, Eskort, famous for producing the country’s best-loved quality pork products, this month launched a new butchery in Gezina, Pretoria.

Eskort also launched a new butchery in Protea Glen, Soweto, which would serve as its very first franchise offering.

Eskort’s first franchise butchery in Protea Glen is already open for trade to the public with the Gezina butchery also operating.

Both butcheries will offer a wide variety of fresh, naturally wood smoked and processed products.

Eskort established a relationship with owner Nkululeko Luthuli, the new franchise store owner for Protea Glen, in 2018 when they worked together to find collaborative solutions to support and grow the processed meat industry.

This gave way to an opportunity to grow a locally-owned business that can now effectively serve the community in Soweto.

“The decision to partner with Nkululeko as our very first franchise owner was born from shared interests and a passion for serving South Africa’s love for meat, especially our most loved pork Russians and bacon,” said Eskort CEO, Arnold Prinsloo.

He added that his entrepreneurial spirit is inspiring and they are excited to see the business grow.

Eskort has over a 100-year legacy of investing and growing businesses, employing thousands of people, nurturing careers and livelihoods while continuing to offer South African’s the most delicious pork products.

Luthuli’s entrepreneurial journey and experience developed from being an active participant in the South African economy, having worked and invested in the meat industry for over 10 years.

“Eskort is a daily feature on almost every South African’s plate. I believe my experience in being a producer, distributor and retailer in the South African food sector has put me in good stead to lead this business with Eskort.”

Prinsloo added that after a tough economic year, they are very proud to have opened their 11th butchery.

“We are committed to continuing our local investment, creating business opportunities and giving our customers more access to their favourite products,” he said.
