Several Tshwane suburbs face possible 12-hour water interruption

Several areas in Tshwane might experience a water interruption for as long as 12 hours as the metro plans to repair a water pipe leak in the east of Pretoria.

This as the municipality’s water and sanitation department will repair a leak on a 1 400mm diameter bulk pipe along January Masilela Drive on Wednesday, October 20.

“The planned repairs might cause an extensive water outage that will affect various suburbs within the metro’s jurisdiction,” said Tshwane metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.

“However, all the reservoirs serviced by this pipeline will be filled before the shutdown.”

Mashigo said the repairs were “inevitable” and was expected to last for 12 hours – from 08:00 until 18:00.

“During this period, residents are urged to use water sparingly to avoid possible water supply interruption,” he said.
