During an initial assessment at the scene, an elderly male was found to have succumbed to his injuries while still trapped inside the wreckage of the vehicle.

“Another adult male patient was found in the road, next to the wreckage, with no signs of life,” the statement said.

Advanced life support resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful due to the extent of the injuries he had sustained.
