Police rescues abandoned newborn baby

Mamelodi East police are investigating the case of child neglect after a newborn baby girl was found abandoned in Phase 3.

On Wednesday at about 16:00, police received a call from a community member informing them about the baby, spokesperson Constable Lethabo Mashiloane said.

The baby was found lying on the ground at Mabena Street in Phase 3 in Mamelodi East, next to the railway lines.

“Paramedics were called to the scene and the baby was rushed to hospital for medical attention,” said Mashilaone.

Police called on residents who have information on this case to please come forward.
