Pta North’s heroic supercop to be laid to rest

Warrant Officer Stoffel Holtzhausen, who was also fondly referred to as a hero and supercop, died last week in an accident when he swerved his motorbike to avoid a pedestrian and subsequently hit a tree.

Pretoria North’s beloved Warrant Officer Stoffel Holtzhausen, who many described as a hero and supercop, will be laid to rest on Friday.

The funeral service will get underway at a church in the Pretoria North area around midday.

Holtzhausen was killed last week in an accident after he swerved his motorbike to avoid a pedestrian and subsequently hit a tree.

Earlier in the week, his widow Geraldine described her husband as someone who was always there for her and her rock.

“He was like my rock… He was just always there. And now my rock is gone,” she said, adding that she would miss him a lot.

The couple was together for 26 years and married for 22 of them.

She said the past few days since his passing had been very difficult.

“It’s very difficult. It’s worse now because my mother died two months ago, and he has been helping me with everything, but now he’s gone,” she said.

The widow said she and her children had often found themselves waiting for the daily morning kisses over the past few days.

“The children were his everything, his priority and he also loved all children dearly,” she explained.

Since his passing, tributes continued to stream in for the fallen police officer, many describing him as a hero and super cop, who had dedicated 27 years of his life to the police force.

He served at the Pretoria North police station for 21 years.

During a memorial service held for him on Saturday, residents, the CPF and his colleagues vowed to continue fighting crime even stronger in the spirit of Holtzhausen.

Vice-chairperson of CPF sector 1 in Pretoria North, Jan White, said Holtzhausen was one hell of a police officer and always assisted in the community any time of the day even after-hours with no worries.

“His main goal in Pretoria North was to clean the drugs, fight against crime, theft and gender-based violence and in many ways safeguarding his community,” said White.

“He was a police robocop.”

Meanwhile, Pretoria North police station’s Lieutenant-Colonel Wilson Makua and Captain Tummi Ramahlaha said their station would never be the same again.

They also encouraged the community and his colleagues not to give up but to carry on fighting crime and join hands.

“We are all shocked by his sudden death. Stoffel would be happy to see the community being merciless to those who give our children drugs, commit break-ins and theft.”
