Centurion medics kept busy with accidents past curfew

Emergency services on Sunday, after midnight responded to two separate vehicle accidents in Centurion.

CERT-SA emergency responders said at around 00:50, they responded to a motor vehicle collision, involving a large truck and light motor vehicle on Brakfontein Road near Olievenhoutbosh Road in Louwlardia, Centurion.

In a statement, CERT-SA said the driver of the light passenger vehicle had to be freed from the wreckage by using the jaws of life.

The driver sustained serious injuries in the incident and had to be transported to a nearby hospital by Netcare911 under advanced paramedical care, in a critical but stable condition.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet clear.”

While also past midnight CERT-SA responded to another motor vehicle collision on Ruimte Road near Saxby Road in Centurion.

“A single vehicle lost control and veered off the road. The small passenger vehicle rolled several times before coming to a standstill across the road, blocking the road.

“The driver of the vehicle was ejected from the vehicle and was found lying on the road not far from the vehicle,” the emergency service said in a statement.

The driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital in a stable condition.

CERT-SA further thanked other role players of the accident, such as ER24 EMS, Wierdabrug sector 3, Rooihuiskraal / The Reeds CPF – Wierdabrug sector 2, Wierdabrug sector 1, Monitor Net, and Tshwane Emergency Services Department for the assistance on the scene.
