The South African Weather Service has warned of extremely high temperatures in Pretoria throughout the week. It will be a hot week in Gauteng with temperatures hitting the mid-30s on Friday in most parts, said SA Weather Service forecaster Tokelo Chiloane.
She said afternoon thundershowers were expected from Thursday. “For today, no rain is expected; we are expecting sunny conditions with a high of 32°C.”
Chiloane said a 30% chance of thundershowers was predicted on Thursday afternoon.
“Temperatures will rise to 35°C on Friday from a minimum of 20°C. We not expecting any significant rain,” she said. Chiloane said the advance forecast was subject to change, but the weather service was closely monitoring developments.
