Angry Mams residents unhappy with court’s decision
The suspect aged 27-year-old was arrested after his uncle made the gruesome discovery and called the police on Friday afternoon, October 22.
Angry residents outside the Mamelodi magistrate’s court were unhappy with the court’s decision of denying a murder accused bail on Tuesday.
The group protesting outside the court demanded the murder accused Tinyiko Shaun Sekwane (27) be granted bail and let the community “deal” with him.
They were chanting outside the court and were in a bloodthirsty mood.

The accused was arrested for murdering six-year-old neighbour, Olwethu Austin Zwane, of Mamelodi East, section 17 on October 22, and also tried to hide his body under the bed.
The court denied the suspect bail and the case was postponed to January 17, 2021 for further investigations.
Community representative, Portia Mashaba said the court should have granted the suspect bail and let the community deal with him.
“The Zwane family is still mourning their beloved son and the suspect will remain in custody where they will feed him every day.
“The court should hand over the suspect to us. We will deal with him so that everyone could move on with their lives.”

The lifeless body of Olwethu was found in a backyard room in a pool of blood along with a knife under the suspect’s bed at the suspect’s grandmother’s house.
Olwethu’s mother, Nomsa Zwane (44) said she was happy with the court decision not to grant the suspect bail.
“We started searching for Olwethu from 15:00, while the suspect was looking at us knowing what he did to my son,” said Zwane.
She said they searched everywhere and as darkness fell, she noticed a police vehicle parked at a neighbour’s house.
“I went to the house to see what the police were doing there. Before I could get closer, I heard two ladies saying that there was a body of a child found,” she said.
The community members of section 17 in Mamelodi East supported the family and said they would continue to do so “until justice prevails”.

Police spokesperson, Constable Lethabo Mashiloane, confirmed that the child was found in the backroom of the suspect’s grandparents’ house.
“The suspect was arrested after his uncle called the police,” said Mashiloane.
Olwethu was buried at Heatherly cemetery on Sunday.
