Daspoort man loses everything in Wendy house fire
"Herman and two of his friends stayed in the Wendy house, and luckily they were able to get out to safety."
A disabled 30-year-old man from Pretoria West lost everything in a devastating Wendy house fire in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Herman Potgieter phoned his nephew, Phillip at around 04:00 informing him that the Wendy house went up in flames in Charl Cilliers Street in Daspoort.
“As I stand next to him, he has not stopped crying once.

“Herman and two of his friends stayed in the Wendy house, and luckily they were able to get out to safety,” said Phillip.
The exact cause of the fire is not known.
“Herman was diagnosed with psoriasis and receives a disability fund,” his nephew said.
“We are not asking for money, but if anyone can please assist him with another Wendy house or building material to build one for him and maybe a bed to sleep on.
“All he owns are the clothes on his body,” Phillip added.
They thanked the Pretoria West community for the donations they have already received.
“Thanks to each and everyone’s help. It is great seeing how people care and that gives us some hope.

“I wish I knew everybody to thank them by name and hope that this post somehow gets to you,” he said.
Phillip said donations would be greatly appreciated and the funds would go towards anything and everything house-related or clothing for the homeless man.
