WATCH: Attempted driveway robbery caught on camera in Waterkloof Ridge
A 23-year-old woman is seen bumping into the robber’s vehicle after one of them smashed her window.

A 23-year-old woman escaped an attempted driveway robbery unharmed on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident which occurred at 15:16 was caught on camera outside a security estate on Bootes Street in Waterkloof Ridge.
In the footage, the motorist can be seen stopping at the driveway of a house where she opens her window to buzz himself in, when a car parks behind him.
Two men emerge from the car. One goes to her window and starts smashing it with an unknown object.
The window eventually breaks and the attempted robber puts his hand through the window.
Brooklyn police spokesperson Sergeant Webster Scheepers said the suspects were armed with guns, but fortunately the young woman got away unharmed.
The young woman then reverses into the robber’s vehicle and drives away.
“Nothing was taken from the victim,” he said.
“No arrests have been made yet, police are searching for three to four suspects.”
Scheepers said two other cases with the same modus operandi were reported at the station in the past two weeks.
A case of attempted armed robbery is under investigation.

Exactly a year ago, the Brooklyn police station issued a warning to residents on these kinds of robberies when a 40-year-old woman was robbed in her driveway in Marais Street, Brooklyn.
Later on the same evening a shot was fired by three suspects when they tried to rob a group of friends who arrived at an address in Mackenzie Street in Brooklyn.
Scheepers warned residents to be more vigilant ahead of the festive season and urged residents to make use of the following safety tips:
– Leave expensive watches and jewellery at home and make card payments instead of having large amounts of cash.
– Be aware of people observing or following you at shopping centres and parking areas. Report suspicious persons and circumstances immediately to security officers on site.
– Check your driveway and street before you leave or enter your premises.
– Make sure your driveway is well lit and clear from shrubbery where perpetrators can hide.
– Do not pull into the driveway before the electrical gate is open, this will prevent anybody from boxing you in.
– Close the gate immediately when you enter. Waiting for a gate to close automatically places you at risk.
– Check your rear view mirror and take note of any vehicle that is following you for a while.
– Try to drive different routes to your home and watch out for vehicles following you.
– If you suspect you are being followed, put your indicator on and slow down at least two to three houses prior to your home.
– By doing this, you force the vehicle behind you to pass and you can then get a better idea of their intentions.
– If the vehicle does not pass, drive on and observe the vehicle for a while.
– If you suspect you are being followed proceed to a busy location immediately and contact the police.
– Women who travel alone and older persons are more at risk as they are seen as easy targets.
