Suspect busted with blue light and police uniform during anti-crime operations
Seven firearms were also said to have been recovered during these operations.
Among the 365 people arrested during police operations held in Tshwane over the weekend was a wanted robbery suspect who had a blue light, a police uniform and an unlicensed firearm in his possession.
The arrests were made during various operations held by the police in the Gauteng province over the weekend. Provincial police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele said those arrested in Tshwane faced charges such as murder, theft, robbery, rape and other serious and violent crimes.

Overall, more than 1 070 people were arrested. “Among those arrested are two suspects wanted for robberies committed in the West Rand. They were arrested in Snake Park, Soweto,” he said.
“During the arrest, a dangerous suspect led the team to Randfontein where a shotgun used during business robberies was recovered,” Makhubele said. In the Sedibeng and Ekurhuleni districts, more than 380 people were said to have been arrested. “Among the arrested were 15 people who were arrested for drunk driving,” he said.


An undisclosed number of illegal liquor outlets were also closed down and liquor confiscated. During operations in the West Rand district, at least 101 people were arrested for various offences such as possession of stolen property and driving while under the influence of alcohol during the integrated law-enforcement agency operations.
“In the Johannesburg district, over 228 suspects were arrested,” Makhubele said. A total of seven firearms were also recovered during these operations.



The recovered firearms would be subjected to ballistic testing to establish whether or not they could be linked to other crimes.
