Rain does not deter local organisation’s clean-up
A volunteer group member said they were grateful for the rain as it made the removal of the weeds easier because of the wet soil.
A local organisation’s volunteer group recently took to the streets of Pretoria for their 6 586th clean-up campaign for green earth.
The volunteer group of ASEZ WAO-World Mission Society Church of God’s youth adults’ workers cleaned both the Colbyn Park and Gordon Road by removing weeds from the park and picking up litter.
“It was not an easy task, as a few minutes after commencing with the clean-up campaign, it started raining,” the organisation said.
However, the rain was reportedly not an obstacle for the volunteer group as they continued with the day’s mission.
“With the aid of four shovels, a mini-saw and clippers, we managed to remove the withered branches from the trees followed by removing the overgrown grass with the shovel as there were no sickles available.”
A volunteer group member said they were grateful for the rain as it made the removal of the weeds easier because of the wet soil.
“One might look at the rain and see it as a major inconvenience, but without the rain, it would have been difficult to remove the weeds.”
