"Following an investigation, it was found that the robbery was in fact planned by the cousin."
Three men, who killed a 36-year-old off-duty cop, were handed lengthy prison sentences last week.
The officer, who was stationed at Mabopane, was killed on October 26, 2019, according to provincial police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello.
“The victim was accompanying his girlfriend’s sister and his cousin to buy a second-hand car in Soshanguve when they were accosted by two unknown men.”
The off-duty officer was shot dead.
The robbers fled the scene with money his girlfriend wanted to use to pay for the vehicle.
“Following an investigation by Constable Keorapetse Segokodi, of Tshwane Trio Crimes, it was found that the robbery was in fact planned by the cousin,” Sello said.
