Noweto ward councillors Christmas messages

"We wish all residents a safe festive season, a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Till we meet again in 2022."

Police in the areas covered by Record Noweto wished the residents in their various policing areas a happy festive season.

“The station and the CPF would like to seize this opportunity to wish residents a joyful safer festive season,” said Rietgat police spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleke.

“This has been an eventful and tumultuous year marked by emotional roller-coasters in which we were confronted by an invisible enemy as a country.

“We also experienced a whole lot of gender-based violence, carjackings (particularly of delivery vehicles), murders, armed robberies, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), common assault offences – to mention but a few.

“We, however, as a station closed the net on most wanted criminals who committed these heinous crimes and we thank the community members who supplied tip-offs that led to arrests,” he said.

“A lot still needs to be done to make sure that you are and feel safe within the precinct. We would like to assure you that during this festive season, we are putting all hands on deck.”

Maluleka said they would like to express their sincere gratitude towards every community member who contributed positively to the station.

“Albeit through operations, awareness campaigns, visits to the station, tip-offs and provision of services. We would also like to encourage members of the public to continuously give us feedback through the suggestion box mounted at the charge office so that we improve on our service and right our wrongs.”

Maluleka urged community members to get out there and enjoy their holidays with families and friends.

“To all the visitors to the precinct: do what is right and we will ensure that you are protected and well-taken care of.

He gave the following safety tips:

– Take care of your valuables at malls.

– Report any suspicious-looking individuals and vehicles.

– Avoid driving alone in the middle of the night if you do not know the area well.

– Do not drink and drive, buckle up, always have your driver’s license on you; and
– make sure you lock the gates, house and windows.

“Take care of the children and the vulnerable groups. Also, avoid crossing the rivers and streams that are not safe to do so during this rainy season.”

Hammanskraal police spokesperson Margaret Molane thanked the local community for their continued support in fighting crime and making sure the area is a better place.

“I urge people to be vigilant at all times and to look after themselves, their loved ones and their belongings. I wish them a safer festive season.”

Dube police spokesperson Warrant Officer Thembi Nowathe also wished the Winterveldt, Kromkuil, Tshwene’s Farm and Mmakaunyana communities a safe festive season.

“Be alert at all times. Report any type of crime. Avoid driving at night alone and stopping at unscheduled stops.

“We would like to wish you all and your families a wonderful, joyful and peaceful festive season.”

Temba police spokesperson Herman Moremi said the station’s management advised the community to be careful at shopping malls during this time of year.

Moremi said people should also make sure that their cars are locked by checking the doors twice when visiting shopping centres.

“People should remove their valuable items from the seats and put them safely in the boot before shopping. Avoid assistance from unknown persons at ATMs. Rather call security or bank employees for assistance. Never leave your house without anybody looking after it when going on a vacation.”

Moremi wished all residents a Merry Christmas.
