A seven-year-old girl, who survived a hit-and-run incident, was given a special treat by Gauteng EMS on Christmas Day.
Lebogang Marole (7) was hit by a vehicle while crossing a street in Bon Accord informal settlement, north of Pretoria, last month.
Gauteng EMS Prinshof shift leader Lesego Kgokane and her colleagues decided to spoil the seven-year-old girl for her bravery.
She got a new dress, as well as Christmas clothes and some household items which includes groceries.
Speaking to Rekord, Kgokane said the incident happened early in November.
“We were called to the scene and found the child to have suffered severe life-threatening injuries.
“Lebogang was crossing the street with her friend when she was knocked over by a vehicle. The driver apparently pulled over, placed Lebogang on the side of the road, and left her for dead,” Kgokane said.

“When we arrived we found her lying next to the road. I was worried she might have passed on. Luckily she was alive and we began treating her. She had injuries to her back, pelvis and arm.”
Kgokane said the team treated Lebogang on scene before she was airlifted to hospital.
“While she was being treated, Lebogang showed bravery and was very cooperative. I later promised her that I’ll buy her a new dress as we had to cut off her dress while we were treating her,” she said.
“During the festive season, we arranged to surprise her by buying her Christmas lunch and new clothes, which we felt she deserved.”
Lebogang’s mother Tinyiko said she was thankful for the paramedics who saved her daughter’s life.
