Three bused for drugs after cops look for missing ‘weave’
Whilst the police were busy questioning the daughter about the missing weave, the police noticed a plastic bag containing a powdery substance protruding from her pockets.
What started as an investigation to find a stolen “weave” (hairpiece), snowballed into a drug bust that landed three suspects behind bars for possession and dealing in drugs on Tuesday, January 12.
According to Eersterust police spokesperson Sergeant Sam Shibambo, they received a complaint from a woman who claimed that her daughter stole her weave.
Police traced the woman’s daughter and located her at a house in Shenck Avenue in Eersterust.
Whilst the police were busy questioning the daughter about the missing weave, the officers noticed a ziplock plastic bag containing a powdery substance protruding from her pockets.
“She was searched and the police found three packets of drugs suspected to be CAT.
“Her companion began acting uneasy after the drugs were seized from the female suspect. This prompted the police to search him also.
“The police proceeded to find four packets of drugs suspected to be crystal meth concealed in his pockets,” said Shibambo.
“They also found an elderly man busy packaging pills suspected to be Mandrax. They found a scale that he was allegedly using to weigh the suspected drugs. They arrested him for possession and dealing in drugs,” he said.
Shibambo added that drugs are a problem in Eersterust and most people addicted to drugs prey on their families to maintain their drug habits.
“The community are urged to try and help their drug-addicted family members by taking them to various institutions and many others that help with drugs rehabilitation,” he said.
The trio will appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court soon on charges of possession and dealing in drugs.
