Two males, aged between 25 and 30 years, have been arrested for various crimes including suspected attempted burglary.
The two are set to appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court soon. According to chairperson of Moot CPF Elsabe Weyers, the aim of these type of operations are to combat various crimes in the area.
“We appeal to the community to report all street lights that are out as well as to turn on their outside lights.
“Some plots and houses are terribly dark which makes crime attractive,” she said. Weyers said that the CPF on a regular basis get involved with SAPS during operations, as police cannot fight crime alone.
Moot CPF patrolling co-ordinator, Willie Cloete said four TVs were recovered over the weekend.

“On Saturday around 04:00, the patrollers saw a recycling trolley abandoned in Annie Botha Street. “Upon closer inspection, I saw a large TV in the bag.
“At that point I noticed a male suspect on the other side of the street,” Cloete said. “He informed me that he saw two men running towards Rose Street. “We called backup from other patrollers who were on duty,” he said.
“Upon further investigation after calling SAPS, we found two more TVs hidden in the plants against a house wall.

Two men that were hiding in the grass were apprehended by Moot SAPS. “They admitted stealing the TVs at a house in Momberg Street earlier that evening,” said Cloete.
In yet another incident, a suspect was spotted at 03:44 in a field in front of a house on the corners of Malan and Blake streets on Sunday.
“Unfortunately he was able to get away on foot, but the suspect did leave a blood trail as he was entangled in the razor wire of the house.
“The wire cut him badly, because we could follow the blood trail for three yards further where he skipped,” said Cloete.

He added that when patrolling at night, as soon as they notice a recycler after midnight, they searched the trolley. “We have recovered quite a few stolen items.
“Each week, suspects come up with new strategies, but we are also sharpening our knowledge to keep abreast of the latest modus operandi,” he said. Spokesperson for Moot police, Captain Anton Breedt wanted to thank security companies, Kilnerpark, Brinant and SDS for their participation and commitment to the community.
“As a community, we need to stand together to fight crime.
“The police and the CPF go hand-in-hand when it comes to combat crime,” he said
