Family searching for missing brother

According to the information the family received from a friend he was with, the night he disappeared they got into a fight with another group.

The Morota family in Nellmapius extension 24 pled with the public to help search for their son who went missing on February 4.

Peter Mamadila Morota (23), known as Tshepo, was last seen coming back from college and going out with a friend for drinks. He has not been seen since.

According to the information the family received from a friend he was with, the night he disappeared, they got into a fight with another group.

Peter Mamadila Morota (23) from Nellmapius extension 24 went missing.

His brother, Maruana Morota said the following day his friend came back for him but never mentioned that they got into a fight.

“We thought he will soon come back, but on Monday morning he was supposed to go to college and when we went to his room he was nowhere to be found.”

Maruana said that when he realised that his brother was missing, the family questioned his friend about the whereabouts of his younger brother.

“The friend explained they went out for drinks at some tavern in Nellmapius with other friends. Before they left to go home in the early hours he said they got into a fight with another group.

“His friend told us that our brother never participated in the fight, but after the fight, he was nowhere to be found. They all went in different directions to their homes without my brother,” said Maruana.

Tshepo was last seen wearing a black beanie, blue Adidas jacket, blue jeans and brown boots.

The family of Tshepo described him as a loving person and a second-year engineering student.

Maruana said they searched almost everywhere for their brother.

“We went to the hospital and government mortuaries, but there was no sign of him.

“We even tried to interrogate the friends he was with but they all said he just disappeared.”

The family opened a missing person’s case at the Mamelodi East police station.

The family suspect the friends know more, but claims the police refuse to interrogate Tshepo’s friends.

“Please come back home, Tshepo. We are worried about your safety,” the family pleaded.

Anyone with information that can lead to the whereabouts of Tshepo can contact the police at 08600 10 111 or his brother Herbert on 081 847 9368.
