Woman nabbed for attempted murder in Laudium

The victim was stabbed twice with a broken bottle.

A 27-year-old woman was arrested for attempted murder following a stabbing incident in Laudium last week.

The victim was reportedly walking from a tavern in Itireleng informal settlement when she was approached by another woman, said Laudium police spokesperson Sergeant Simon Chokoe.

“The woman then took out a broken beer bottle and stabbed the victim twice in the upper body,” he said.

The victim managed to escape and was later taken to hospital for treatment of her stab wound.

A case of attempted murder was opened at Laudium SAPS for investigation, Chokoe said.

On Thursday, a suspect was arrested at the Itireleng informal settlement.

In a separate incident, police were performing visibility patrol and searches around Laudium when members spotted a suspicious-looking man at Jacinth Street.

“Upon searching the suspect, a substance believed to be drugs was found in his possession,” Chokoe said.

The suspect was immediately arrested for the possession of drugs.
