He was last seen by his mother, when he walked her to the taxi rank on the morning of February 15.
Mamelodi police are investigating a missing person’s case following the disappearance of 16-year-old Mpilo Mkhari.
Mamelodi East police spokesperson, Constable Lethabo Mashiloane said Mkhari, from extension 6, was last seen on February 15, around 06:00.
At the time of his disappearance, Mpilo was last seen wearing a grey tracksuit, a green and white T-shirt and blue takkies.
The police pleaded with the public to help the Mkhari family in searching for their missing boy.
“There is no waiting period to report a missing person,” said Mashiloane.
His mother, Gladys said she last saw her son in the morning when he was walking with her to catch a taxi to work.
“Mpilo walked me to the taxi rank and was going to buy vetkoek. When I came back home, he was nowhere to be found,” said Mkhari.
“This is the first time my son disappeared. I am scared of what happened to him because we always knew his whereabouts,” she said.
She said her son has a mohawk hairstyle.
The family said they searched for him almost everywhere and pleaded with the public to help searching for their son.
Mkhari said she can’t sleep at night without knowing the whereabouts of her son or if he is going to sleep with an empty stomach.
“Please come back Mpilo. Life is not the same without you at home,” Gladys pleaded.
Mashiloane said anyone who know anything about his whereabouts, can contact Mamelodi East police on 012 815 700 or contact his mother Gladys Mkhari on 076 957 7129.
