Rand Water completes repairs to east reservoir

On Saturday, Rand Water shut down water supply to the Vlakfontein reservoir for repair work.

Repair work to the Vlakfontein reservoir was complete, the Tshwane metro said on Sunday afternoon.

“Rand Water has reported that they have just completed their repair of the Vlakfontein reservoir system, earlier than the original estimated time of repair of 19:00 this evening,” utility services, regional operations and coordination MMC Phillip Nel said.

This after water supply to several neighbourhoods in the east of Pretoria was shut off on Saturday evening.

“Rand Water has further reported that water levels are already increasing at their Vlakfonte reservoir and the City of Tshwane should expect water to start pumping to our reservoir later today,” he said.

Nel further said that this would help to restore water to residents sooner, adding they would continue to monitor the situation and provide additional communication when their reservoirs began receiving water from Rand Water’s system.

Affected reservoirs were:

– Carina Street

– Constantia Park

– Cornwall Hill

– Grootfontein

– Parkmore

– Monument Park

– Mamelodi

“As with the outage two weeks ago, we expect a gradual restoration of water to all affected

areas and ask residents to please conserve water when it returns to their taps to assist with

restoring water to all residents as fast as possible,” Nel said.
