Murderer still on the loose, as memorial preparations for Tshwane firefighter begin
Senile Annah Mnguni was found shot several times, dressed in her Tshwane fire department uniform on Kommando Street, only metres from her workplace.
While police were still looking for her murderer, funeral and memorial service arrangements were underway for the 59-year-old firefighter who was murdered outside her workplace last week.
Local police are still looking into who could have murdered Sonile Annah Mnguni outside the fire station on Kommando Street on Wednesday evening.
They said that the motive for the killing was not yet known and that the incident, which left Mnguni with several gunshot wounds to her face and head, was being investigated.
Police spokesperson Constable Munyadziwa Ramovha said no arrests had yet been made.
Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said their management met with Mnguni’s family on Monday at Tshwane House to extend condolences as officers were set to assist with preparations for a memorial service.
He said the memorial service would be held on Wednesday at the Bronkhorstpruit fire station.
The funeral will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022, at Ogies in Mpumalanga.
The time and address of the funeral service are to be announced.
According to Mabaso, acting divisional chief Abednego Phantshang and deputy chief Solomon Khale had been tasked to work with the family and help in arranging both the memorial service and the funeral.
Last week Thursday, Mabaso recounted that on the day of her murder Mnguni went out to meet an unknown person she had just spoken to on the phone.
“They then heard gunshots only moments after she had left the station.”

Mabaso said the colleagues went outside to look for her and her body was found about a hundred metres from the station with multiple gunshot wounds.
“A paramedic certified her dead on the scene.”
The emergency services department offered their condolences to her family, colleagues and friends for her untimely passing.
