Olievenhoutbosch police confiscate 350 litres of alcohol

“All licensed outlets must know the terms and conditions attached to their licences which include opening and closing time, age of people who can buy and consume alcohol.”

An operation by the Olievenhoutbosch police saw 350 litres of liquor being confiscated on Monday.

The team found establishments that were illegally selling alcohol.

Police spokesperson Seargent Pretty Mokadi said alcohol was seen as the largest contributing factor to unacceptable behaviour including crimes such as murder, domestic violence (GBV) and driving under the influence of liquor.

“The law stipulates clearly that anyone who wants to sell liquor must have a valid licence,” she said.

Station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Gert Corbett warned places trading illegally with alcohol that as long as they do not comply and are not licenced, they must expect consequences.

“All licenced outlets must know the terms and conditions attached to their licences which include opening and closing times and age of people who can buy and consume alcohol,” he said.
