Erasmia police keeping schools safe
Police emphasised amongst others the issue of discipline and respect towards teachers.
Erasmia police have continued with their school safety programme to ensure that schools are safe and crime-free.
As part of their programme this week, the Erasmia police in partnership with NGO Khuluma Family Counselling visited the Hennops River Primary School.
The aim was to educate learners about the dangers of bullying, illegal substances and bringing weapons to school, said Erasmia police spokesperson Sergeant Tumisang Moloto.
He said it was very important for the police to connect with school children from a young age.
The station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Phindile Madonsela emphasised amongst others the issue of discipline and respect towards teachers.
She also touched on the rules and regulations of the school which needed to be obeyed.
The social crimes prevention officer Sergeant Shaai and Khuluma Family Counselling both encouraged learners to report any sexual assaults or criminal activities to their respective teachers, parents and the police.
Speaking to Rekord, Hennops River Primary School HOD, Hendriette Conradie said it was encouraging to have the police at the school.
“It was motivating for the children to have police officers here,” she said.
“The police explained what their role is in society and how they aim to inspire future leaders.”
Conradie thanked the Erasmia police for being involved and inspiring the learners at the school.
