Good progress at garden refuse site in Rooihuiskraal
“We do, however, still find that residents dump black bags at the site, which complicate and slow down the work.”
Tshwane metro is making great progress at the Rooihuiskraal garden refuse site in Aleppo Crest Street, Centurion.
According to Cindy Billson, DA councillor of ward 69, the metro works diligently to remove garden refuse.
“We do, however, still find that residents dump black bags at the site, which complicate and slow down the work.
“We got rid of the awful smell at the site as well.”
Billson said repairs to the wall and palisades also commenced.
This followed after complaints were received from residents about the “eyesore” in the neighbourhood as the dump was overflowing and accompanied by “an awful rotten smell”.

Rekord reported earlier that the gate, wall and palisades were damaged by residents who gained access to the site after-hours to dump household waste.
Billson said the site was being run according to health regulations and spatial development requirements as related to areas where people may deposit garden refuse.
“The site is meant for garden refuse only.”
Of great concern to the city officials, was the damage that domestic waste can cause its shredders on-site, without which the municipality’s work is considerably more difficult and costly.
In respect of large tree trunks that residents dump, the city requested that it be cut up in smaller logs before being dumped at the site.
